Four Seasons Resort Aviara Announces Wine Club Dates
The
Four Seasons Resort Aviara Wine Club, featuring exclusive dinners with the world’s finest vineyards such as Ferrari-Carano, Castello Banfi and Chateau Ste. Michelle, announced its remaining dates for 2006. As a Residence Club owner you can attend the monthly dinners while visiting the Resort. Dinners are held at the Resort’s Clubhouse dining room at the Aviara Golf Club. A reception with live music greets guests prior to the five-course dinner. An intimate setting ensures an up-close and personal experience with the winemakers themselves, as they share the secrets of their trade.
On Thursday, November 9, Spring Mountain Vineyard’s Winemaker Jac Cole and Vineyard Manager Ron Rosenbrand will visit Aviara. Mr. Cole has had the rare fortune of acquiring a remarkable depth of knowledge and experience along his winemaking path, as well as his valued friendship with Spring Mountain Vineyard manager, Ron Rosenbrand. Together they are dedicated to the concept that the world’s greatest wines are the direct result of the work done in the vineyard. Their focus has been on the nuance of clone and rootstock, the balance of canopy and fruit, and the determination of the point of perfection for harvest.
Gosset Champagne closes the 2006 calendar with a celebration of champagne on Thursday, December 14. For four centuries, great care has been taken to maintain the reputation of the Gosset brand, and to preserve a family know-how in making champagne.
In 1584, Pierre Gosset made still, mostly red wines from the grapes he harvested from his own vines. In those days, two wines vied for pride of place at the table of the Kings of France: the wine of Aÿ and, from some hundreds of leagues further South, the wine of Beaune. Both were made from the same grape varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The reputation of the wine of Aÿ was such that François the First had his own winery built there, which is now owned by Champagne Gosset. In the 18th century the wine made in and around Aÿ began to bubble, and the Gosset family turned naturally to the production of champagne.
