Oliver Beckert, Executive Chef
Oliver Beckert believes that the true beauty of his profession lies in the sum of all its different elements. "I simply love to cook. As executive chef of Four Seasons Resorts Lāna`i, Chef Beckert oversees all culinary operations at the Four Seasons Resort Lāna`i at Manele Bay and Four Seasons Resort Lāna`i, The Lodge at Koele. Since arriving on Lāna`i in Fall of 2005, Chef Beckert has created decadent menus at Manele Bay: Italian classics at Ihilani, enlightening Pacific Rim cuisine at Hulopo’e Court, and mouthwatering seafood at the al fresco Ocean Grill; as well as the savory options at Four Seasons resort Lāna`i, The Lodge: a casual grill at Terrace and the indulgent culinary experience at the Dining Room.
The use of the finest ingredients, many from local farmers and fishermen is of great importance to Chef Beckert, and he has mastered the incorporation of local and regional flavors into classic cuisine. With the diversity of cultures in Hawaii and the region, Chef Beckert enjoys experimenting with the variety of ingredients and flavors available to him and his culinary team.
Chef Beckert, whose accomplished culinary skills make him appear seasoned beyond his youthful age of 33 years, was born, raised and educated in Nuremberg, Germany. He apprenticed at the exclusive one-Michelin star-rated restaurant “Bammes” prior to joining the venerable five-star Bellevue Palace in Berne, Switzerland - renowned for over a century of setting the standards in Swiss hospitality. Prior to his arrival on Lana`i, Chef Beckert honed his talents at Four Seasons hotels in Miami, Washington D.C., London and New York City.
Chef Oliver lives in Lāna`i City with his wife, Yvonne, and son, Rafe. When not in the kitchen, Chef Beckert enjoys traveling with his family, outdoor recreation and continually educating himself on food and wine.
